Description
Order 22.5x5x32.8cm (8.9”x12.9”), designed by Otl Aicher. Five rings in the center are flanked by olive leaves leading into a chain. Housed in a green leather case lined in velvet and silk. Plus Award Diploma in frame, 22.5x31cm (8.9”x12.2”). Signed in ink by President Samaranch. D. Gyarmati was a water polo player at the Melbourne 1956 Olympic Games when the Soviet Union invaded Hungary on November 4. The Hungarian and Russian water polo teams got in a fight on December 6 during a match (“Blood in the swimming pool”) – many of the Hungarian players did not return home after the Olympic Games ended. Gyarmati won gold in 1952, 1956 and 1964; silver in 1948 and bronze in 1960. A coach for many years, and his team won gold in Montreal 1976. Order and Diploma EF. (2 pcs.) ($4,000)
